INTRODUCING AMERICAN STANDARDS.
Welcome to the realm of chaos.
Arizona’s AMERICAN STANDARDS have caused ripples in the water of hardcore since the powerhouse four-piece hit the scene in 2011. Hailing from Phoenix, their sound is rooted into a technical hellscape, while managing to maintain their own personality and never sounding redundant, they explore hardcore, noise punk, mathcore and metalcore. Touching on raw emotions, high energy and must-see live acts, the band is lining up Brandon Kellum at vocals, Corey Skowronski at lead guitar, Steven Mandell at bass guitar and drummer Mitch Hosier.

Known for their emotional and socially poignant charged lyrics courtesy of vocalist Brandon Kellum, they have authentically reflected themes of loss, depression, personal struggle and socio-political topics across their discography counting four official releases: Still Life (2012), The Death of Rhythm and Blues EP (2013), Hungry Hands EP (2014) and critically acclaimed 2017 Anti-Melody released via Victory Records fully displaying raw energy, socially sharp lyrical themes and resonating with the band’s genuine feelings. Navigating in trouble times due to the band’s founding guitarist Cody passing away in 2015 along with the death of Brandon’s father, American Standards came out more focused than ever, reinforcing their very central DIY attitude and sheer emotion. Narrating pain has revealed to be cathartic for their music.
American Standards have an extensive live experience and have shared the stage with names such as: Stick To Your Guns, Norma Jean, Atreyu, Knocked Loose, Stray From The Path, Comeback Kid and many more.
After releasing single WEEP on May 18th, 2018 they’re now back with a blistering new song called PHANTOM LIMB. Along with the release they have also announced their 2019 tour dates. Full schedule below.
AMERICAN STANDARDS AND NEW CRUSHING SINGLE PHANTOM LIMB.
Deeply inspired by early 2000’s late ‘90s metalcore, hardcore and screamo, American Standards, bring a new crushing single to the table: Phantom Limb, which was mixed and mastered by The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Kevin Antreassian at Backroom Studios.
The single comes out of the block with full-throttled intensity and invoking a sense of frenzy and panic. Its desperate riffs and aggression are reminiscent of Converge, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die. American Standards launch you into a chaotic hellscape full of exquisite blast beats and riff slams battling against ferocious vocals courtesy of Brandon Kellum. Brief moments of harmony achieved with the clean range are snapped by darting drums and thrown back into gnarling vocals with dynamic fashion and experimental effort.
“We’re always pushing ourselves to do something different. With Phantom Limb, it was taking a traditional song structure and turning it upside down into something that sounds a bit schizophrenic upon first listen. The song is about challenging what it means to belong.” Brandon Kellum, American Standards.
