The band debuted with fabulous EP MODERN SEPARATION on September 6th, 2018, a 7-tracks collection showing off an immaculate chemistry between heaviness and melodic catchiness, high dynamics and brilliant production. The album is revolving around the disconnect between how life has been driven to becoming more connected, through media and technology, yet as people, we are becoming separated from each other and pain as a stepping stone towards a brighter future and a new life. We had the chance to have a chat with the guys to find out more about the band, music and meaningful EP Modern Separation. Take My Soul are now back with a personal re-imagination of “The Kill”, originally performed by Thirty Seconds To Mars which was released on March 4th, 2019.

TAKE MY SOUL. THE KILL.

Track review

Take My Soul’s cover of THE KILL is a heartfelt song, where warm and appealing vocals on the clean range effortlessly suit the mood of the track itself. Dynamics are still very central for the band as the track undergoes an interesting evolution. In the acoustic-driven intro the clean vocals are merged together with melodic and harmonic flavors. The vocals gradually pick up intensity along with the instrumental arrangement moving towards a metalcore-esque vibe mainly driving this transition. Sick riffing and harsh vocals kick in around the 1,22 minute mark allowing heaviness to combine with melodic catchiness.

With real feeling put into the lyrics of the song itself, Take My Soul shift back to the acoustic allure of the sweet intro with a last delicate touch before the remaining energy will burst and draw the song to a close.

In The Kill the instrumentals complement the vocal track perfectly achieving an emotional delivery that makes the single truly stand out as memorable. The transition between clean-melodic to harsh-heavy is so natural that the original song seems merely a starting point for this mesmerizing final version by Take My Soul. Polished, emotional, heavy and melodic.

Looking forward to what Take My Soul has in store for us.

Rating: 10/10
