Background and lineup.
After signing to label Famined Records, UK-based melodic hardcore / metalcore act DAYSHIFTER kicked off a new adventure with single Serpent Eyes out last August 2018 via Spaceuntravel.
Dayshifter quintet is hailing from the North East of England and lining up Nathan Dillon on vocals, Tom Simpson on lead guitar, Anth Dickinson at rhythm guitar, bassist James Taylor and newbie drummer Liam Robson.
Hostile and furious, the band draws influences from iconic acts such as Architects, Crooks, In Hearts Wake, Like Moths to Flames, While She Sleeps bringing back that 2010 era metalcore nostalgia.
Revolving around passion, Dayshifter know exactly how to get heavy and mysterious with engaging structures and plenty of headbanging.
With their previous single “Serpent Eyes” the powerhouse quintet marked their territory into heavy music setting up expectations and longing for more music to be dropped. No sooner said than done. They get heavier than ever in their newest track COMMON GROUND released via Famined Records on October 5th, 2018.
DAYSHIFTER. COMMON GROUND.
Common Ground is showcasing a winning output of heaviness intertwined with darkness and sparkling production.
This is a one way ticket to a journey into Dayshifter’s crushing sound where most brutal metalcore is exposed to eerie atmospheres and dramatic textures. Opening with a melancholic guitar and feint ambience, the track gradually builds up soon giving way to a slab of chuggy metal riffs, extra bold basslines and a solid drumming. Songwriting is smashed apart by a barrage of harsh vocals, effortlessly combining mid range growls, lows and a short appearance of clean evanescent vocals after the 2,09 minute mark.
Common Ground is a mosh-inducing song with timeless breakdowns. A pummelling piece with pulverizing bass, darting drums and gnarling vocals taking the listener to Dayshifter’s sunless chambers.
