Austrian alternative metalcore breakouts BURY ME ALIVE drop new single LIGHTS, sophomore record underway.

After forming in 2018, Austria-based alternative metalcore newcomers BURY ME ALIVE came out of the block with acclaimed debut record UNEXPECTED MISERIES released on June 21st, 2019 via Hopeless World Records / Dedication Records. Bury Me Alive aka BMA are: Dominik Bischof at vocals, Alessandro C. Mueller at guitars, Belinda Grabherr at guitars, Alex Ebenkofler at bass and Gav Tinkler at drums. The band shared the stage of icons such as Bullet For My Valentine and Lionheart, and will support While She Sleeps at Conrad Sohm Kultursommer Festival in August.
Despite being newcomers, Bury Me Alive have crafted a refined sound backed up by expert musicianship and sparkling production, proving to be a powerhouse that is just about to steal the attention away from many other breakthrough bands. Combining bleeding screams with soaring clean vocals, they are looking to take over the underground scene with a personal brand of metalcore-meeting-post-hardcore. Heaviness and aggression are paired with melodies, synth and catchy hooks to round out the sound.
Having announced a sophomore record underway, the Austrian quintet is giving a taste of what’s to come with brand new single LIGHTS, set to be released on June 12th, 2020. This is the first song to be lifted from the band’s upcoming record, which details have not yet been disclosed. As compared with previous materials, LIGHTS shows a progress by giving a wider melodic prospective on Bury Me Alive’s signature sound. For this release, the fierceness is soothed with an even more nuanced sound. Still featuring minor passages of razor-sharp riffing and screaming, the track oozes intense arena rock vocals, ultimately delivering an ultra-catchy chorus. As a whole, the single is blended together in a harmonious and memorable way, with relatable lyrics that seem to mirror a self-reflection journey across darkness and hopelessness. Lyrics below.
As the COVID-19 emergency continues to unfold, the band announced the single on social media and stated: “We bring back some lights out of quarantine.”
