Fantasycore bruisers THE WISE MAN’S FEAR debut with SharpTone, unleash singles The Relics Of Nihlux and What Went Wrong, set to release third album VALLEY OF KINGS.

Just less than a month ago Indiana fantasycore breakouts THE WISE MAN’S FEAR announced their freshly signed label SharpTone Records. Alongside the announcement the metal sextet (Paul Lierman, Joseph Sammuel, Codi Chambers, Tyler Eads, Nathan Kane, Thomas Barham) unleashed a blistering new single titled THE RELICS OF NIHLUX, showcasing a spine-chilling atmospheric soundscape where a blistering riffing battles against a variety of ferocious vocals and soothing clean vocals. Superb shredding and an a catchy groove round off the formula.

The song is the first chapter of an epic journey for the band who is set to bring its initial trilogy full circle with the release of third studio album VALLEY OF KINGS out on May 29th, 2020. The band debuted on the scene with Castle in the Clouds in 2015, followed by Lost City dating back to 2017. The Wise Man’s Fear integrate emotional fantasy to a personal storytelling and brand of metalcore/deathcore, where crushing bold heaviness is intertwined with subtle melodies and clean vocals.

The Wise Man’s Fear opened up on the trilogy and fantasycore as follows:

“It’s like Journey to the Center of the Earth meets The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring with a tragic twist at the end” explains Paul. “Our first three releases fold into each other. ‘Castle in the Clouds‘ took place in a sky landscape. ‘Lost City’ was Atlantis-style with an ocean. ‘Valley of Kings’ is underground. It’s a triad of earth, sky, and water. This record is more adventurous. We knew what fantasy elements we wanted to incorporate and how to incorporate them. The story really speaks through the music”.

Drummer and lyricist Paul Lierman commented on lead single THE RELICS OF NIHLUX:

“The lyrics describe this secret meeting between five of the greatest warriors to discuss the destruction of the relics that have been around since the evil monarch in the last album. Basically, they do a blood pact and swear to fulfil this mission. The lyrics are also symbolic of the group’s composition. ‘Nihlux’ is Latin for ‘Nothing,’ which is light-less. These dark relics are light-less as well. The song positions the journey to follow.”

On May 15th, 2020 The Wise Man’s Fear dropped second single and video WHAT WENT WRONG, giving another perspective on the record, this time around showing off the perk of a more melodic side together with discussing self-reflection and inner struggles.

The song showcases heartfelt melodies and soaring clean vocals which round out the complete sound that is The Wise Man’s Fear. Melody is intertwined with aggression, bleeding screams, grinding bass and bold guitars. You better watch out, this band is about to steal the attention away from many mainstream bands.

Vocalist Tyler Eads commented on second single WHAT WENT WRONG:

“‘What Went Wrong’ sheds light on the inner dialogue of struggling with self-doubt and anxiety. Relationships become damaged and coping with temporary distractions ends up making it more difficult to find true solace. It’s a reflection on the different paths we take in life that pull us away from the people we love”.

The Wise Man’s Fear  – What Went Wrong Lyrics:

What went wrong

Tell me before you’re gone

I am a lost man stuck in my dreams

I’m not together as I may seem

And now my heart has turned to stone

Surrender my all

To the cold grip of time

Now I’ve drifted too long

This life is no longer mine

Let go and just fade away

Releasing deathgrips to yesterday

What went wrong

I’ve come so far and now you’re gone

Did you believe in me

Or just the feeling

Of holding something close to me

I admit that I’m sinking away

All that my shadow touches turns to grey

There’s no such thing as being safe from yourself

Like anchor-tied feet

I’m one with the sea

Silent, sinking

Left to thinking

Oh did I give up hope

Did I find a part of me that’s made its home obscurity

No, I can’t let go

Of empty thoughts that will betray

When will I find my way

We all just wanna fill this hole

Find comfort in the broken things

We use when we’re lost inside of our souls

And we feel like nothing at all
