IN HEARTS WAKE: ancient roots and carbon offset mission behind new album KALIYUGA, dedicated website and new single SON OF A WITCH.

After addressing ecological injustice last month with lead single and video WORLDWIDE SUICIDE, committing to plant one native tree for every 1000 views, Aussie metalcore eco champions IN HEARTS WAKE unleash second single SON OF A WITCH on April 24th, 2020. The song came out via an official animated video.

A CONSCIOUS, CARBON OFFSET RECORD. In Hearts Wake have also announced their fifth studio album KALIYUGA, due out on August 7th, 2020 via UNFD. The band calculated the recording process of the album to be 26.37 tonnes of CO2e which has been entirely offset through the purchase of carbon credits in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor of Western Australia. With the mindset to use recycled materials to manufacture the physical products for their music, the record will be packaged plastic free, to minimise the environmental footprint on the release by carbon offsetting the entire process.

Vocalist Jake Taylor opened up the vision and mission behind the record:

“During the recording process we measured every power socket, counted every light, pound of freight, food consumption, driving mile and airfare taken. We were then able to find the total carbon footprint and offset it by supporting a rewilding project in Australia on First Nations land. Our mission to help support and sustain life on earth has made us realise that less is more. Many industries are evolving, and as musicians we feel it’s time to do our part. It’s been challenging to navigate the retail hurdles, find sustainable materials and successful companies that embody our ethos, but through a bit of research we’ve discovered that there are many solutions out there”.

FOUR ALBUMS, FOUR NATURAL ELEMENTS. The latest three albums were drawing inspiration from the natural elements, Earthwalker was themed around the element of Earth, Air was the subject matter for Skydancer and Water for Ark. KALIYUGA will stem from Fire, especially inspired by the devastating fires that occurred in California and Australia throughout 2018, 2019 and 2020.

A DEDICATED WEBSITE. Alongside the announcement of a new meaningful record and the release of second single Son Of A Witch, the band has launched a brand new website, thehouseofkali.com. The site includes plenty of interactive contents, insights and important information in order to raise awareness and encourage a positive change to tackle one of the most relevant crisis on the planet today. The website includes all sorts of materials and album news, inspiring conscious heavy music.

KALIYUGA takes a surgeon’s scalpel and a sledgehammer to cut and smash through disfunction. A ruthless scrutiny of self and the social and eco injustices and abuse at play today blazes throughout the album as In Hearts Wake aim to break the barriers of apathy, distraction, disinformation, anxiety and despair to spread the band’s purpose and passion like wildfire.

ANCIENT INSPIRATION: THE AGE OF KALIYUGA. The band commented the ancient inspiration behind the title and the culture behind the record:

“Ancients from different cultures spoke of Four Ages of Humanity. The Hindu ancients called the Age we are in right now “Kaliyuga” — a time when negativity such as discord, greed, materialism and fear create strife and imbalance for life on Earth. We’re seeing this in the world around us and in the chaos of recent events. But I believe we were born into this age for a reason — that we can transform the challenges we face by seizing the opportunity to grow and change the way we live on the earth and with each other”.

In Hearts Wake – Son Of A Witch lyrics:

Bring me back down, bring me back down

Bring me back down and save me from this hell

Burn

So, are you listening? Cause I got something to say

About every single person that got caught in the fray

I’m wearing a brave face but it’s getting harder to take the blame

Falsely accused. Battered and bruised

The consequences of a power misused

I’m dying to move on but everything’s going up in flames

If only I could save you

Winds of change that rearrange bring me back to life

Now I’m letting go, the world I know, held me to the knife

I need gravity, to bring me back down, bring me back down

I need gravity, to bring me back down and save me from this hell

So back up, back up. Listen and learn

Those twisted dark days must never return

I’m trying to scream out, but it’s getting harder to breathe the air

Why don’t you step up, step up to the funeral pyre

Is the face that you see really worthy of fire?

I’m holding my hand out, but there’s no one fucking there

If only I could save you

Winds of change that rearrange bring me back to life

Now I’m letting go, the world I know, held me to the knife

I need gravity, to bring me back down, bring me back down

I need gravity, to bring me back down and save me

You walk through fire but you never learn

One step past the point of no return

You walk through fire but you never learn

One step past the point of no return

You walk through fire but you never learn

You’re One step past the point of no return

You walk through fire but you never learn

I’m the son of a witch you failed to burn

I’m the son of a witch you failed to burn

Winds of change that rearrange bring me back to life

Now I’m letting go, the world I know, held me to the knife

I need gravity, to bring me back down, bring me back down

I need gravity, to bring me back down and save me from this hell

Save me from this hell
