MAKE THEM SUFFER: Gearing up to drop fourth studio album HOW TO SURVIVE A FUNERAL, unleash new single ERASE ME.
With more than a decade of music under their belts, Aussie metalcore act MAKE THEM SUFFER are set to release their fourth full-length HOW TO SURVIVE A FUNERAL due out on July 24th via Rise Records and their freshly signed label Greyscale Records. The highly-anticipated record is following up previous effort Worlds Apart, released in 2017 to critical acclaim.
How To Survive A Funeral sees the collaboration of LA-based producer Drew Fulk aka WZRD BLD, known for having worked for iconic acts such as Wage War, Motionless in White, Memphis May Fire, Ice Nine Kills, We Came As Romans, Bullet For My Valentine.
The band of Sean Harmanis, Booka Nile, Nick McLernon, Jordan Mather and Jaya Jeffery has been making waves since debuting on the scene. The record is a landmark mission statement for Make Them Suffer, encompassing past and present in a newly found inspiration that traversed the realms of deathcore, melodic death metal and finally reaching the shores of metalcore. Blossoming from the outgrowth of the concepts that have laid the foundation for the band, such as growth and the desire for eternal forward motion, it moves towards a new chapter of creativity.
Alongside the announcement, Perth’s magic makers gave the world a taste of their blistering new record with third single ERASE ME released via an official video on March 20th. This follows up standalone singles Ether, 27 and Hollowed Heart. Together with the other singles, ERASE ME is paving the way for the record as another killer and dynamic demonstration of what the five-piece does best: unleashing an unstoppable force, which is equal parts heavy, unrestrained, suggestive and melodic. The song combines melodic injections against a furious breakneck tempo. It’s a metalcore ripper with delicious keyboards giving way to a slab of chuggy metal riffs and stellar drumming, with a constant backdrop of eerie atmospheres. It builds into an anthemic chorus lead by mesmerizing clean vocals, courtesy of Booka Nile and battling against a barrage of ferocious vocals throughout the rest of the song by Sean Harmanis.
Frontman Sean Harmanis shared his thoughts about the single as below:
“Erase Me is a song about pushing someone away and raises the question: Is it selfless or selfish to do?” the band explains. “It’s unfortunate that some people are wired to always feel as if they’re never good enough. The sentiment of the lyrics ‘I’ve broken you enough so don’t hate me, erase me’ demonstrates the quality of selflessness. In retrospection, it’s that same selflessness that makes you ‘good enough'”.

Make Them Suffer – Erase Me Lyrics:
Let it break, let it break, let it break.
No need to plan your escape.
So goodbye, get out tonight.
No need for alibis.
Break away, break away, break away.
So here’s to all our mistakes.
Euthanize what’s you and I.
Smother us with cyanide.
If I said that I’m sorry,
you could call me insincere.
But you’re waiting
patiently for something worth saving.
I’ve broken you enough so don’t hate me.
Erase me.
Let it break, let it break, let it break.
Waste away waiting for change.
Love denied. Dead inside.
No need for compromise.
Break away, break away, break away.
No need to plan your escape.
Get out tonight and save some pride.
Get back in touch when the pain subsides.
But you’re waiting
patiently for something worth saving.
I’ve broken you enough so don’t hate me.
Erase me.
Why would you save me?
I’m not worth saving.
You’re suffocating, so just erase me.
Annihilate me. Assassinate me.
I’m not worth saving, so just erase me.
