MAKE THEM SUFFER unleash third single SOUL DECAY, fourth album HOW TO SURVIVE A FUNERAL set for release on July 24th via Rise Records.
Following up highly-acclaimed record Worlds Apart dating back to 2017, Aussie metalcore quintet MAKE THEM SUFFER set a release date for their upcoming full-length HOW TO SURVIVE A FUNERAL on July 24th 2020 as due to the current worldwide pandemic situation. Make Them Suffer are signed to Rise Records and just recently, they have also inked a deal with Greyscale Records. The band travelled all the way from Australia to the USA to record the highly-anticipated record by working side by side with producer Drew Fulk A.K.A. WZRDBLD in Los Angeles.
Back in March Make Them Suffer gave a first sneak peek of How To Survive A Funeral with lead single and video Erase Me, which was the first material to come out after standalone singles Ether, 27 and Hollowed Heart. Continuing to crank out ripper after ripper, they dropped second single Drown With Me in April and unleashed their third song titled SOUL DECAY on May 22nd, 2020.
Soul Decay is a hard-hitting song with a headbangable groove, where Make Them Suffer are combining once more brazen heaviness and heartfelt melodies into another piece of perfection. Subtle atmospheres and eerie backing vocals intertwine with an intense chorus, while a driving guitar lead with an oriental flair is constantly asking for attention. Riffing is quite spectacular and hypnotic throughout the song. In this chapter, Sean Harmanis is mastering the mid range of growl and higher screaming, but also showcasing an impressive low after the breakdown hitting at the 2,30 mark.
Sean Harmanis, Booka Nile, Nick McLernon, Jordan Mather and Jaya Jeffery are writing a new chapter of their creativity. With each new single the Aussies prove to be an unstoppable force and their upcoming fourth record seems to be chock-full of potential to rank among the best metalcore AOTY 2020.
Frontman Sean Harmanis shared his thoughts about the lyrical inspiration of SOUL DECAY:
“‘Soul Decay’ is about watching someone you know fall back into the same bad habits over and over, unaware that they themselves are the root of their own problems. I believe this is a message we all need to hear sometimes. Being able to accept responsibility for our own mistakes keeps us humble.”
Opening up about the single on socials, the band also stated:
“It’s difficult having to watch someone you know and love deteriorate in front of you. What’s worst yet, is knowing they’re their own worst enemy. Wearing our own mistakes is what keeps us humble and Soul Decay is a testament to that belief.”

Make Them Suffer – Soul Decay Lyrics:
You cry yourself an ocean
And corrode your empty heart
You break what isn’t broken
Then pretend to fall apart
So now you’re smiling ear to ear
So proud to be wasted, down and out
Until you face your fears
You’ll never find yourself
I watched you fall from grace
I watched your soul decay
You play the perfect victim
You built yourself this prison
Your soul decay
Buried in bad decisions
But they’re all self inflicted
You bare the blame
(You bare the blame)
Soul decay
You speak what isn’t spoken
To fill your empty heart
Reading into every omen
Like you were doomed from the start
Now you’re smiling ear to ear
So proud to be wasted, down and out
Until you face your fears
You’ll never find yourself
You play the perfect victim
You built yourself this prison
Your soul decay
Buried in bad decisions
But they’re all self inflicted
You bare the blame
(You bare the blame)
I watched you fall from grace
You built yourself this prison
Tear it down
Burn it to the fucking ground
Burn it to the fucking ground
You play the perfect victim
You built yourself this prison
Your soul decay
Buried in bad decisions
But they’re all self inflicted
You bare the blame
(You bare the blame)
Soul decay
Soul decay
