Twins of Evil Tour 2018: The Second Coming
Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie.
An article by Gerswin Reynolds
Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie are two of the most iconic stars in music. With over 20 years in the music business, a rabid fan base, an image that is synonymous with their music, and a discography of music that has inspired a generation, both are legends in their own right.
With the announcement of the first Twins of Evil tour in 2012, fans were expecting great things. Marilyn Manson had just release a “comeback album,” called Born Villain, and Zombie was still touring his 2010 release Hellbilly Deluxe 2 and promoting his film the Lords of Salem. The tour became a magnet of controversy when Zombie reportedly cut Manson’s set time, which led to insults being tossed from Manson to Zombie; Manson claimed through twitter, “I’ll kick his a**.” Zombie responded on stage by calling out the Antichrist Superstar before playing Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” that Alice Cooper was “the only shock rocker that ever was.”
Little is known about what triggered this feud; both shared the same backstage crew. Maybe there was resentment over Zombie’s recruitment of former Manson members John 5 and Ginger Fish, or that Zombie had a bigger stage show and fan base.
We know even less how these two agreed to a second tour kicking off on July 11th, 2018 in Michigan, Twins of Evil Tour 2018. Hopefully this tour will allow the two 90s rock gods to see eye-to-eye and put on the performance fans deserve. But with Manson’s recent onstage antics, the past may be doomed to repeat itself. Regardless of the outcome, both bands put out fantastic new records that not only honors their legacy, but rejuvenated fans and pushed their artistry to new heights.
*Finger’s Cross* we may someday get a new NIN/ Marilyn Manson Tour.
